The Hindi Stree Mandal, an association of Indian women, organized a bazaar of home-made goods by women. Ba had her own stall of goods made by her and the women of Tolstoy Farm. This was the first incident of the reliance on cottage industry which later on in India would give birth to the swadeshi and Gram Udyog ideology. Ba pioneered this in South Africa itself.
